It’s my MARKet, so I’m gonna Share……McDonald’s announced that their pre-packaged meal for children will now come with apple slices and a smaller serving of french fries.  Children across America announced they are changing its name from Happy Meals to Disappointment Meals………News alert! Apparently it has been and is going to continue to be quite hot.  This is expected to last a while and the media have been falling all over themselves to discuss and cover this story.  If only this were an annually occurring event that could be noted on a calendar so we could all be aware of which months this might occur.  Oh yeah, it is.  It’s called summer and it’s hot.  Saying it is hot in the summer and treating it as news is like saying a baseball game was played and a player scratched himself.  It’s just kind of expected…Last I heard, Pakistan is supposed to be an ally of the United States in the war on terrorism.  So when I hear that someone in a leadership position in Pakistan was identified as helping the United States locate Osama bin Laden, I expect this individual is going to be rewarded with medals and kudos.  Instead though, the Pakistani government arrests these people and punishes them for helping us locate the most wanted man in the world.  Am I missing something?  What part of “ally” is Pakistan not getting?  We really need to begin rethinking who our real friends are in this effort…Very strong winds toppled over a stage at a Blues-fest in Toronto, injuring a number of people in attendance and disrupting a performance by Cheap Trick.  Not sure which part of this story is most shocking.  That we can fly to the moon yet apparently don’t have the technology to build a stage strong enough to withstand the elements.  That Cheap Trick was on stage at a Blues-fest or that there was an audience for Cheap Trick large enough to be injured……While Derek Jeter became only the 10th fastest in major league history to reach the 3,000 hit milestone, he was the absolute fastest in cashing in on the event in the most crass way possible with immediate sales of "memorabilia" commemorating the moment.  Congrats Derek......When Casey Anthony showed up in court for her sentencing all dressed up, playing with her hair, smiling and expecting to walk out of jail that day, I must have missed the part where she is still in mourning for her dead little girl.  I understand she is allowed to have a competent defense team but for them to put forth the notion that she is still shaken by this tragedy is just ridiculous and disingenuous on their part.  The only thing Casey Anthony’s actions have shown is how eager she is to get on with her now-childless life…United we stand, divided we fall.  A motto US politicians live up to when we are threatened militarily but as seen recently when “just” money is at stake and not lives, it has become every political party for thyself.  But I am here to solve the problem.  In broad strokes, here are the three fair-for-all things that need to happen to get the US out of debt.  First, the Capital Gains Tax has to go.  It is time those that are super rich pay their fair share and since most hide behind capital gains for their money, that need to get taxed more than 15% on it. Second, we start drug testing anyone who wants public assistance.  If you and I need to get drug tested to earn money at our job, those that want money from the government for not working need to get drug tested as well.  Third, we legalize the largest cash-crop in America, tax it heavily and regulate it like we do alcohol.  This will also have the added benefits of reducing crime since Marijuana would no longer be illegal and giving tobacco farmers something new to grow.  Before you complain one of these ideas is out of line, especially with your particular thinking, remember the other "side" will compromise too.  You don't get without giving.  Just for once I would like to see those that are elected compromise and serve the American people instead of only working on getting protecting their chances for re-election…After she was found dead, police searched Amy Winehouse’s apartment and didn’t find any drugs.  It will be quite the opposite when they search her blood…A taxi used in the Vancouver version of Cash Cab accidentally killed a pedestrian while heading back to the garage.  No word on if when the ambulance was called they were told it was a Red Light Challenge.  Or if the driver did a Street Shout-out looking for help……Not that I wish her ill but if something happens to Lindsay Lohan, I hope the judge who has overseen her most recent court appearances takes a long, hard look at herself.  Severe scolding and a strong tongue-lashing is not appropriate punishment for a pampered, over-indulged celebrity.  This revolving door of celebrity justice in California is a joke.  It is only a matter of time before some celeb gets another star-struck judge to give them another slap on the wrist so they can walk free and go out and kill themselves or someone else……Beautiful locales, witty banter, attractive people you care about and a couple of exciting action scenes each hour.  This is why Burn Notice may be the most perfect show and why I don’t ever miss it…I do not get paid by them and I earn nothing by saying this but I just purchased my first replacement computer.  I first purchased a Dell back in February of 2002.  It had 40 GB of hard drive and half a RAM of memory.  It lasted me just shy of 10 years before dying earlier this month.  I didn’t even shop another brand.  With 10 years of solid service, they earned my loyalty.  Can not wait until my new Dell laptop arrives.  Next month’s column will be written on it.  You’ll have to tell me if you notice a difference……Remember, if you like what you’ve read, add me to your Watch list so you don’t miss a column.  Or even if you don’t like what you’ve read………OK, I’ve shared.  Now it’s your turn.  Agree?  Disagree?  Have at it.  See you next month.
