It’s my MARKet, so I’m gonna Share……Yes, it’s still December as I post this, but would rather be early than late……So I heard that Barack and Michelle Obama won’t get invited to the Royal wedding. Neither will I. Here’s a thought, maybe we aren’t friends with the bride and groom. That is how people think to invite guests……I know that being a super-hero is dangerous work, but usually the injuries occur from a beat down by a super-villain, not singing and dancing on Broadway. I guess chorus boys are more dangerous than I thought. Hang tough Spider-Man……The trailer for the Yogi Bear movie has never made me want to see a movie less. At the very least, I see trailers and think the flick would make a good rental. This trailer was so disturbing in how un-funny it was I don’t think it would make a good bird cage liner……I never imagined I would combine the thoughts “fetish” and “Rex Ryan” in my mind, and now that I have, I think I threw up a little in the back of my mouth……I just love local news around the holidays to see who really ranks as second and third string……Where is the outrage now? When HBO aired Hard Knocks with the NY Jets, everyone was up in arms over Rex Ryan’s cursing. Have you seen HBO’s 24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic? These guys, coaches and players, make the Jets look like choir boys. I’ll give kudos to HBO for this incredible behind-the-scenes look at life in the NHL, particularly as these two teams gear up for their Jan. 1 outdoor game, but the silence from the “moral police” when these guys are cursing more than Rex ever did is deafening. Or is it that complaining about NHL’ers won’t get all the complainers press the way the Jets did? Gee that seems convenient……Now a bit of 2010 in review……Best celebrity train wreck of 2010 was a tough one to choose with Miley Cyrus, Brett Favre, Tiger Woods and Charlie Sheen all up for nomination. However, the winner is Lindsay Lohan, who manages to bring the drama even in rehab……Best movie was Toy Story 3. I laughed, I cried and I still want more Woody and Buzz. Pixar, make it happen……Best TV shows were Sons of Anarchy and Burn Notice, with an honorable mention to Big Bang Theory. All three kept and keep me entertained, interested, invested and smiling……Worst show of the year was and is S*it My Dad Says. Even my 11-year old was tired of it by the third episode. A semi-funny Twitter feed does not a good show make. And William Shatner is not funny period……Best books, fiction, were the two each by John Sandford (Bad Blood and Storm Prey) and Lee Child (61 Hours and Worth Dying For). Great thrillers and terrific reads. Best book, non-fiction, is Life by Keith Richards. Admittedly I am only about two-thirds through it, but since I know how it ends (spoiler alert, he lives), I feel confident I will enjoy the rest as much as I have the beginning……Best song of the year is, well, I don’t know. As my children remind me, my musical tastes are nowhere near current for the most part, and I am fine with that. However, the song released this year I enjoyed the most was a remake. Gimme Shelter, as re-done by U2, Fergie and Mick Jagger at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert is a great listen and got the most play on my iPod this year……Gadget of the year is the iPad, or as I like to think of it, an iPod Touch on steroids. It seemed within just days of its release, they were everywhere – news readers had them, commuters had them, teachers and kids had them. At this point I am thinking Apple will be the precursor to Cyberdyne and the machines taking over shortly…… Classiest and best goodbye of the year was Conan O’Brien, whose final NBC shows were instant classics. Sleaziest and worst goodbye of the year goes to Brett Farve. Ending a Hall of Fame career with a sext message scandal was not the way to go out. You stayed one year too long Brett……Wishing all my readers a terrific, safe, happy and healthy 2011. Look for more MARKet Share in the New Year and please pass it along to your friends……OK, I’ve shared. Now it’s your turn. Agree? Disagree? Have at it.
